The Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) was jointly developed by International Working Group (IWG),  which consists  of  International  Association Natural Textile Industry (IVN),  Japan Organic Cotton Association (JOCA), Organic Trade Association (OTA) and  Soil Association (SA).

The world's first standard was released in 2006.The purpose of GOTS standard certification is to ensure the organic integrity of textiles throughout the entire process- from seed selection, planting and harvesting, to industrial processes and final finished products. 

Requirements including but not limited to: 

• ‌Seed selection‌: Non-GMO cotton seeds only;
• ‌Cultivation‌: Exclusive use of biological fertilization;
• ‌Pest control‌: Biological or mechanical methods only;
• ‌Irrigation and soil‌: Zero industrial contamination, chemical fertilizers, or pesticides.

In January 2019, SINO became the first company in China to achieve full supply chain certification for both organic wool apparel  (the first one in China) and organic cotton apparel under GOTS. We have maintained this certification for six consecutive years (2019–2025).

At the end of 2022, over 13,500 entities worldwide held GOTS certification, with only 1,775 in China. SINO remains the sole entity certified for GOTS wool apparel production.
